A nonprofit on a mission to open STEM to every student

The STEM Skills Center for Innovation (STEMSCI) is a nonprofit organization that provides structured STEM program pathways designed to support progression, outcomes, and broader access for youth ages 13-17 in Washington State. Our programs combine hands-on learning, guided skill development, mentorship, and structured experiences that help students build technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence while advancing into measurable results environments such as competitions, advanced projects, academic pathway support, and specialized program tracks. Students in our programs actively engage in building, coding, designing, modeling, and solving challenges. This approach allows them to better understand how STEM concepts apply in real-world situations and supports progression into higher levels of STEM learning beyond introductory experiences.

Our Approach

How we got here, and where we're going

Step 1

How We Started

STEMSCI was formed to develop new STEM program pathways that are distinct in structure and focus from traditional class-based models. Over the past several years, prior experience in STEM education has demonstrated the importance of hands-on learning and consistent engagement in areas such as robotics, engineering, and technology. Through this experience, it became clear that while many programs provide introductory STEM exposure, there is a need for structured pathways that support continued development, measurable outcomes, and broader accessibility.

Our Approach

We believe strong STEM education should be practical and accessible. Students learn best through active engagement, guided exploration, mentorship, hands-on practice, and structured progression over time. Our programs support a range of experience levels, from first-time learners to students ready for more advanced projects, with a structured model that supports progression into advanced work such as competitions, capstone projects, and specialized STEM disciplines.

Where We're Going

STEMSCI is structured to provide program pathways that support continued growth in STEM learning, including access to advanced programs, competitions, academic mentorship, and specialized areas that are not consistently available through standard program models. The organization is designed to operate with a focus on structured outcomes, program accessibility, and long-term student development across multiple STEM disciplines.

Who We Serve

STEMSCI serves youth ages 13 to 17 across Washington State. Our programs are open to students from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels, from those just starting to those looking to deepen their skills. Programs are designed to be accessible to students at different starting points, whether they are exploring STEM for the first time or building more advanced skills.
